Hi friends,
Today, I wanted to share a few items we’ve added to our garden over the last few years that have helped create a cozy, Cottagecore vibe. Let’s get into it!
1. Bamboo Stakes with Cute Stake “Toppers”
These are new to me (my husband just surprised me with them for my birthday a few days ago, and I squealed!)—I didn’t even know this existed, but I just love these bird bamboo stake toppers. I use a ton of stakes for my dahlias, scabiosa, and snapdragons, and while I love their functionality, I often worry I might poke an eye out when I’m bending down to pull a weed. These toppers come in packs of 6, and we just decided to get more.
2. An Arbor
There’s something so welcoming about an arbor, don’t you think? This isn’t revolutionary, but I had to mention it because it’s truly one of my favorite parts of the garden. We now have climbing roses going up the sides (not pictured here), and I can’t wait until they take over the whole arbor!
3. Small Terracotta Pots in Your Potting Area (or Anywhere Really)
There are few things cuter than terracotta pots. You can get these for very cheap and I think the more weathered they look, the better! I love to plant pansies and herbs in these as you can see below.
4. Pink or White Buckets
I can’t tell you how much I love my pink buckets! They are so much cuter than the typical black buckets. They are very pricey but worth it if you use them a lot, especially if you’re having friends over for any kind of flower party. I got the ones in the first picture below here.
5. Harvest Baskets
I use these baskets in a few different scenarios. Usually, I’ll grab one when I’m dead-heading/weeding, but sometimes I’ll grab it when I’m harvesting flowers for drying, pressing, or using them for a project. Finally, if I don’t have a bucket nearby, sometimes I’ll put the harvested blooms in the basket for a few minutes, bring them into the house, and then put them into a vase or bucket.
6. Garden Art That Speaks to You
Garden art is such a personal decision, just as all art is. My husband and I stumbled upon these mushrooms while on a trip in Santa Cruz and loved them so much that we hauled them back to the car and brought them back home with us on a 8 hour drive back to San Diego. No regrets!
7. White Garden Beds
White garden beds are the cornerstone of my cut flower garden. They are made out of redwood, and we asked a local woodworker to make us custom benches to match.
8. Twine Instead of Green Velcro Tape
This is a small touch, but makes a big difference if you are tying vines to a trellis. I think using twine instead of the green Velcro tape is more pleasing to the eye. The ones I have below are from one of my favorite garden shops, Gardenheir.
Bonus: A Fluffy Garden Friend
I hope you enjoyed these cute & cozy garden touches! Do you have any of these itmes in your garden?
Your garden is so joyful to look at - and I love the tips. I am ordering the green garden twine - what a small touch that makes such a huge difference in aesthetics. Everything looks incredibly beautiful!
Your garden is so beautiful. I have serious garden envy, lovely photos of your beloved cat catching some rays in the sunshine!
Definitely adding some natural coloured twine and some more painted wooden features into the garden to soften it.
Thank you for your post it is super inspiring!
